Jacksonville, FL (January 17, 2007) –Idea Integration®, the information technology solutions unit of MPS Group, Inc. (NYSE:MPS), announced today that it will partner in a five year initiative with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), a division of the U.S. Department of Labor, to replace their legacy system. With the signing of the OSHA Information System (OIS) contract, OSHA takes a major step towards improving their services to the American workforce.
Under the OIS contract, Idea will engage with OSHA to modernize the legacy Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) to meet the Strategic Management Plan set forth by the Department over the next five years. OSHA is seeking to replace the current IMIS solution with a more cost effective, efficient system that ensures secure integration and compliance across the organization, as well as provides the opportunity to capture information electronically in a user-friendly, web interface to support not only office personnel, but also a mobile workforce. This new system will provide OSHA with the capabilities to automate and streamline business processes, identify and track trends such as occupational fatalities, injuries and illnesses, and receive electronic data directly from state offices.
Task Order 1, the first phase of this OIS initiative, will be comprised of project management, functional and technical requirements definition, as well as hardware and software acquisition. At its completion, OIS will serve the over 4,500 users in 250 OSHA offices nationwide.
“Idea Integration is excited to be involved in this strategic undertaking for OSHA,” said Jim Albert, president of Idea Integration. “By working with OSHA and applying our expertise in automated inspection systems, we will be able to help OSHA revolutionize the way they do business by providing mobile capabilities to field inspectors, reducing the challenges associated with data collection, and providing real-time information to make better business decisions.”
OSHA’s mission is to assure the safety and health of America’s workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. For more on OSHA please visit www.osha.gov.
