Idea's Windows 8 application demonstrated at Microsoft's TechEd Conference
Jacksonville, FL (June 20, 2012): Idea, a leader in technology solutions, announced that they were one of a select group of partners asked by Microsoft to build an application on the new Windows 8. The application was demonstrated at a press conference at Microsoft’s TechEd Conference in Orlando, FL held on June 12, 2012.
Idea’s Rounds application was developed for Microsoft’s Healthcare division as a project to demonstrate the capabilities of the Windows 8 operating system. The app was built for the tablet form factor so that doctors can easily reach vital patient information through the ease of a mobile device. The application features include a pen interface for consent forms, procedure descriptions, patient charts and a map showing patient room location. Another feature is the ability to either instant message or email other treating doctors.
Highlights of the soon-to-be released Windows 8 include it’s fast and fluid user interface, homepage tiles containing real-time information, touchscreen input and the Metro user experience. The O/S also enables developers to build applications using their preferred tools and in any language they choose. The Rounds app was built in the Metro style using Javascript, CSS and HTML 5 was the first Windows 8 app built by Idea’s developers.
